ABOUT
The Beginning...Tazer is a brand that started its life in 2011 at a Call of Duty Clan called "Team Dead Eye" (Known as DEDi). At first it was started as a small clan made up of friends who had a lot of spare time. I myself was working as a duty night manager at a hotel and worked 4 night before having 4 days off. This meant that I had to swap from being awake at the night, to the day and then back again. So I used gaming to keep myself occupied when I needed to stay awake and this is how the clan was formed.
During these days, I started capturing our antics with a "Dazzle" Capture card and uploading it to a channel on youtube. I realised that I enjoyed learning about making videos. Capturing footage, building computers and editing it together. Back then I was using Camtasia software, which was incredibly basic. But it was my start in the world of editing. HOW TAZER CAME TO BE...After spending many many hours playing with friends, we realised that we were actually pretty good at the game and wanted to take things more seriously. Recruiting more and more players, some of whom were actually amazing. I was never the best player, but I could hold my own and what I was good at was organising and creating something from nothing.
We joined a semi-pro league called the WGL and began competing in leagues against some other seriously good teams. We even attracted some of the players in those teams to join our ranks. In the meantime, I was getting more and more creative with my edits and started a separate channel just for the team, which was renamed for the WGL league "Tazer Competitive Gaming" and a website was set up... www.TazerCG.com. But this wasn't to last long, after lots of fallings out and arguments, the clan broke apart. I was planning on starting a new clan on the game "Destiny" but instead a good friend of mine, still to this day called "Kim" from the amazing country of Sweden and I decided to start a PC Gaming Community. It was called "Tazer Community Gaming" and certainly wasn't called that so we didn't have to change the name of the website... cough. We successfully ran this for many years with our focus being more on community based content, with Kim and I making videos for the channel, as well as many of the other members of the community. Eventually we turned it into a YouTube Sub Network under the Freedom! MCN and ran that with staff and almost 200 partners before youtube decided to shut down sub-networks entirely, only allowing MCN's (Multi Channel Networks) to remain. During this time I had built a fair following on youtube with over a 1000 subscribers on my own channel, doing gaming let's plays, reviews and many other types of gaming videos. I even worked for a short time for MGN which was a sister network to Freedom! which focused on gaming videos. Soon after this, dissatisfied with simply sitting in my house all day I wanted to get out and do some adventure type videos, particularly urban exploration. I started a second channel called "Days Lived" where I filmed family and even filmed my mum and sister doing a skydive. HOW TAZER URBEX GOT STARTED...Soon after starting this channel I contact a channel called "Exploring the Unseen World" which was run by a couple of guys called Jack and Tom. With them, I went on my first ever Urban Exploration and immediately got the bug. I decided to try and run the channel as a half gaming and half urbex channel. But the urbex soon took over and Tazer Urbex was born.
Since 2017, I have explored some truly amazing places in the UK, Wales, Belgium and France. At one point we even were organising sponsored trips to Scotland and Japan, which due to Covid, unfortunately never happened. I've also explored with some amazing people; Neil (Abandoned Explorer) , Colin (The Bearded Explorer), Warren (Urbexing with Warren), Sam (Top Abandoned Places), Sean (Seany Explores), Steve Ronin (Exploring Crew, Friends with Exploring with Josh), Ant (Abandoned Seekers), Oscar (WhatYouAfter) and many many more. I could not name all of them here but there have been so many. Much love to all of you. And I have had some amazing times. After Covid however, it has become very apparent that many of these people have stopped uploading or making videos and it has become harder and harder to meet new people. This in my opinion is due to the mounting competition and how most people are not willing to collab or share the limelight with others. I'm not going to lie, I had a drive in me to be a really big youtuber... once. However, with age and experience, its been far more important to me to make friends and enjoy what I do. I love exploring abandoned buildings and travel most of all. I have become pretty good at editing now and now work full time as a Videographer and Editor. When I think back to the start when I knew absolutely nothing about editing and how to do it and now I get paid to do just that. I will never think my time of youtube was wasted. I have so many happy memories of good times and adventures that will always be with me till the day I die. WHAT HAPPENS NEXT...As I write this... the answer is... I don't know. I've spent the last 6 months taking a break and during that time I have realised that I still love to explore. I have so many ideas about what I'd like to do, but I always come back to exploring abandoned places. So there will most likely be more of that in my future.
But to me it has always been something I want to do with friends and I'm not sure if I will be able to make videos in the capacity that I once did. But I will try regardless. And I guess we will see what the future holds. Hopefully a lot more amazing, unforgettable adventures. To find out how the story ends... Subscribe, Like & Share to see more! |
